President Hector Reyes' Introduction!
Hello All,
I would like to introduce myself as the incoming President for ABEA. I am a business teacher from Tucson, Arizona, teaching at Desert View High School for the past 13 years. For the 2024-25 school year I taught a Business Management class for Pima JTED Bridges and advised a FBLA chapter. I completed the business education program at ASU where I was fortunate to have Dr. Martha Rader as my professor. As a student teacher, I volunteered to assist with running competitive event conferences and leadership conferences for both Arizona FBLA and Arizona DECA. I have taught business operations, business management, and hospitality management. My professional growth includes participating in the “Super Saturdays”, the ACTEAZ Summer Conference, and its networking activities, and taking part in professional associations where I have met several of you. I transitioned from BOSAS to BMAS. As a BMAS instructor, I pushed for the state to recognize that BMAS should have economics as an embedded credit. I have taught BUS100 and HRM100 for Pima Community College for the past four years. My professional leadership experiences include serving on the board for ACTEAZ, being the AZME President, serving as a member of ADE’s Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) Advisory Council, serving on the board for Pima JTED’s Business and Marketing programs, and being the former CTE Liaison at my school. For the past four years, I have been on the board for ABEA as the person working on the website (azabea.org). After AME and ABEA had their joint conference over 4 years ago, I decided that based on what I teach, I joined ABEA and then decided to take the opportunity to join the ABEA Board. For the past four years, I have been on the ABEA Board as the Social Media/Website Chair (azabea.org). Bringing on the new ABEA website and being on the Board has been a great experience, and I look forward to serving you as your ABEA President. - Hector Reyes, President
